Hold your breath and believe the impossible. Business baron Elon Musk launched Neuralink his latest venture that aims to merge the human brain with Artificial Intelligence (AI). It is certain now that the exploration of the possibility of merging computers with human brain like a brain-computer interface has already begun.

The company will pursue “neural lace” scientific innovation process that implants tiniest electrodes in human brains so that uploading and downloading of human thoughts could be easily done!

No, it is not a science fiction. The detailed report of the same was published a few days back confirming it. If Neuralink project becomes successful then it is expected to improve the memory and concentration level of the people using it through Artificial Intelligence.

Neuralink Is Thinking Ahead of Its TIme

Currently, Elon Musk is also spearheading some other ambitious scientific projects like SpaceX and Tesla. A few days back, he stated “Over time I think we will probably see a closer merger of biological intelligence and digital intelligence. It’s mostly about the bandwidth, the speed of the connection between your brain and the digital version of yourself, particularly output,” when a journalist asked Elon Musk about the Neuralink project.

Electrode arrays are already used to treat neurological disorder and imbalances like Parkinson’s, Alzheimer and epilepsy among other diseases affecting the working of human brains in one way or other. Neuralink has now joined hands with the Kernel, a renowned biotechnology firm to give a massive impetus to their research.

Kernel has been at the front foot of medical research on human brains with new surgery techniques and innovations for the last few years together. “We know if we put a chip in the brain and release electrical signals, that we can ameliorate symptoms of Parkinson’s,” the Kernel official stated last year. “This has been done for spinal cord pain, obesity, anorexia… what hasn’t been done is the reading and writing of neural code, he added further while also confirming the news that Neauralink and Kernel are working together on this research.

So Close Yet So Far…..

  • Researchers have to find a safer way to implant electrodes inside human brains.
  • Electrodes must keep the person’s mental balance stable.
  • Not possible for any science to find out what does each neuron thinking at a particular point of time. It is impossible to decide if the neurons in the brain are asking a person to read or play!
  • Inserting any alien things inside human brains is risky. It is not like a heart where pacemaker can be inserted if required.
  • A normal person would avoid getting his skull opened, only the adventurous mind people and his family members will give their nod to undergo this type of operation where a chip will be inserted to connect AI to human brain.

Some neuro scientists claim that still very limited research has been done until now to understand how the neurons work inside human brains for communication purposes. So, Neuralink will be a difficult aim to accomplish.

Neuralink, the California-based neuroscience Company, is still in its nascent stage but making a rapid advancement in medical science. The Company is now all set to develop cranial systems to treat serious brain diseases while also working a way to attach AI to a human brain.
