Motherhood is a blessing in itself. God has created sufficient mechanisms to ensure that the baby gets all nourishment through all stages of pregnancy. While in the womb, the umbilical cord supplies the necessary set of nutrients to the baby. After birth, milk in breasts provides much-needed nutrition for survival in the new external environment. The modern society has exposed a new set of behaviour where new parents tend to get confused over the necessity of breastfeeding in the purview of various supplements available at quick disposal. However, research has proven that breastfeeding is certainly the best nutrition for a newborn. Additionally, leading medical authorities, paediatricians and gynaecologists tend to support the idea of breastfeeding.

The second reason is that breastfeeding protects infants from various bacterial and viral diseases being rich in antibodies. Babies that have been breastfed exclusively for the initial six months have been reported to suffer from fewer ear infections, respiratory illnesses and diarrhoea.
The third reason why breastfeeding is a winner is due to the higher intelligence quotient scores for children who have been breastfed in the initial years of their infancy. Research studies have linked higher intelligence quotient of children with the amount of time they were breastfed.

Fourth, breastfed infants are less likely to be overweight and tend to enjoy a normal body weight as they grow.

Fifth, breastfeeding allows mothers to physically and emotionally bond with the baby which makes the baby feel loved and secure, and such emotional balance creates a healthy adult. Children who are not given such emotional bonding tend to emerge as mentally disturbed personalities in later life.
