Why Women Need to Trust Themselves More

Women confidence trust

Women can do everything. From reaching the moon to scaling mountains – they are well capable of doing even the laborious unconventional tasks that were not meant to be. In the 21st century, women have to leverage the opportunity, scope and logical thinking in their favor.

Instead, women’s trust factor within themselves is somewhere lost in the battle of feminism and political upmanship. On the contrary, Women really need to trust themselves more rather than looking up to others for their own socio-economic development and well-being.

During the last US Presidential Elections 2016, the entire world prayed for the then US Secretary of the State Hillary Clinton’s victory out of emotion since the US has elected no female president ever in the history.

However, she was a non-performer and controversial figure. From deletion of emails from the official server to mishandling of Libyan crisis (When the US embassy was burnt down in Benghazi in 2012), the then secretary of the state Hillary Clinton has completely failed to manage those crises.

Even, Hillary Clinton once advocated for a child rapist in a 1975 court case and successfully defended him too. Yet, she still preaches for child rights and women empowerment and has an enormous fan support too.

So, nothing is translucent. Everything aspect has its black and white aspect too. Rather than putting blind faith in somebody, women need to empower themselves individually with right thoughts, education and self-defense techniques to lead a good, safe and dignified life.

Why Are Women Losing Trust on Others?

  • The deceitful behavior of men.
  • Exploitation at a workplace.
  • Rampant Domestic Violence.
  • Relegating the status of a woman by another woman.
  • The gap of Gender Parity still exists.
  • Unequal pay for same work (Income inequality between men and women)
  • Many women have inherent tendency to consider every other person as a potential aggressor leading to their lack of trust in others.

Why Should Women Now Stop Blaming Others?

You can’t take the world so naively. It has several people having different thought processes and intentions. Though not everyone is an inherent criminal or male chauvinist, but your own safety and well-being are paramount.

You can’t always blame the law enforcement agency for everything. Common, you have to behave rationally too. Here is the checklist for every woman;

  • Don’t consider marriage as the “end of life” or beginning of a “heavenly journey”. It’s just a phase of life, accept it gracefully.
  • Marital rape and domestic violence should be vehemently opposed from the day one.
  • You should have enough education and skills to lead a happy life.
  • Any physical harassment at an office or public place should be dealt with an iron hand at an appropriate forum.
  • Learning same self-defense techniques could be extremely helpful to fightback incase of a threat.
  • Never settle for anything lesser than equal pay for equal work. Fight for it or else start your own business venture and be an example for others to follow.
  • Finally, discourage people, be it men or women, who try to demean your accomplishment and discourage you too often.

Women have to believe in themselves. Trusting oneself is the beginning of a social change. Be good, strong and rational. Women need to trust themselves more rather than blaming others for exploitation.

The aftermath of Second World War saw a massive development in women’s self-confidence and self-belief as they had to raise their children sans male members. Always consider yourself independent and keep your confidence level high – that’s all.

We are Humans First; No Job Is Big or Small

Equal Jobs equal respect

“If you think you’re too big for small jobs, may be you’re too small for big jobs” – Gecko and Fly

The world is a unique place. Everyone has to work to survive here. Some people accomplish much more than what they want or deserve, while some have to stay satisfied with a meager amount of income and things that they get after hard work. And then we have some other people also who languish to get even their two times meal a day.

The question is not about an income equality, but about the psychological trauma that people doing menial jobs feel day in and day out, which is in itself a complete distraction from the universal truth of human rights and equality, liberty, and fraternity. In countries like Japan, what one does for the nation is all that matters. Collective Consciousness to make the nation proud is a feeling that is inside all the workers.

Work is Worship: Respect the Thought

In its simple philosophy, a work is a worship. Whatever you do with full dedication you are adding your essence to the world. It is the people’s hackneyed perception that classifies a Job as a big or small. Many often, people categorize these jobs in terms of the pay that a worker earns. Now, just imagine if everyone is doing the same works – can the world survive?

Of course, not. Suppose every other person is working as an engineer at a reputed MNC, then what will happen to the writers, doctors, CA, Lawyers and others? Or take it this way – if all of us are busy with an intellectual occupation then who will become a waiter, barber, cobbler, retailer or a sweeper? Certainly, it will make our lives more difficult than ever.

Our Humanity is our First Identity – Occupation Comes Next

Just like two individuals can’t be same, similarly, not everyone can choose the same career. It depends upon several other factors as well including one’s own individual capacity, skills, family compulsion and personal choice as well.

Long time back, someone has said it right that “each according to the need and each according to merit”. Certainly, whatever we do in life should receive ample respect and dignity from the people all around.

If you are a sweeper then it doesn’t mean you are doing anything to feel ashamed of. In fact, you are contributing to the society and participating in the nation-building exercise in no lesser term than a learned person with an elite profession.

Social equality jobs job

The idea is to live and let live others. Everyone has a fundamental right to live with full liberty, dignity, and respect. So, we must respect all the people around us irrespective of their professions. In developed countries such as the United States and Japan, “Equal respect for all jobs” is the guiding philosophy for them. It has its own relevance too – if we had to all menial and petty jobs by ourselves then it would have been impossible for us to dedicate enough time towards the careers that we love.

Traits of a Good Verbal Communicator

Traits of a Good Verbal Communicator

Some persons are born with an inherent disability that denies them with the blessings of speaking properly. In medical term, this is called stammering. Thankfully, with astute medical care, latest equipment and appropriate speech therapy, the extent of stammering can be reduced.

It is the human’s capacity of communication that keeps the world moving. Yes, how we speak, write and listen determine the quantum of success that we accomplish in life. There are certain things that make a person good verbal communicator but everyone isn’t lucky to be so. Some people face communication problems in their daily lives even without any congenital issues.

It takes years of practice and other traits that make a person good verbal communicator. Nobody is a born communicator with first-class verbal abilities. People have to acquire these skills from the very environment that surrounds us. It is a well known fact that “One’s communication ability is directly linked to one’s thought process”. Every time you interact with people – do so directly from brain not emotions.

5 Tips to be a Good Verbal Communicator

Think Before You Speak: During a verbal communication, whatever you speak should precede with relevant thoughts in advance. Suppose, you wish to speak about “rising crime against women” then you can’t blabber on “climate change or environmental degenerations”. Hence, during a public speech your words should complement your thoughts.

Authenticity and Fact: When you speak or communicate, do it from your own research and analysis and fact – don’t simply utter something that is “based on your emotion”.

Respect Other’s Communication Ability: A good verbal communicator never interferes when others are speaking. It is based on simple dictum that respect begets respect. Being humble should be the cornerstone of your communication goals. So, speak with confidence and humility while accepting convergence of viewpoints too.

Brief, concise and up to point: What separates a good verbal communicator from others is an ability to convey so many things in a few words only. Keep your communication up to the point while talking to others. Nobody likes sermons and parables – keep your communication process more informative and useful.

Be a good listener: Nobody acquires excellent communication skills in a day. Every person aspiring to have exemplary oratory skills should start with being a good listener first. Listening to various discussions and debates opens up one’s mind, and helped grasping important essence from the same.

Fundamentals to a Good Verbal Communication

Some fundamental skills that enhance a person’s communication ability are language proficiency and ability to use a wide variety of vocabulary in his communication. The way a person uses his body language is also necessary during a live discussion or public speaking.

Verbal communicator

Last but not the least; a good verbal communicator should have the ability to motivate others and add positive essence to their lives. You should keep inspiring people with positive and optimistic thoughts with your words. Never speak same thing again and again – rather convey a lot of other important things that could let them feel enlightened after having a meaningful discussion with you.

Online Trolling can Take a Dangerous Turn

Online Trolling can Take a Dangerous Turn

We are living at a time when social media bullying or online trolling is the norm of the day. We have to deal with this new online hazard called ‘cyber harassment’ day in and day out. Social networking sites such as Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and others have now emerged out as the most convenient way to abuse, troll and pass condescending remarks on others under the garb of anonymity and freedom of speech.

Of late, former CEO of Twitter admitted that the popular “Micro blogging Site” has failed to tackle the menace of online trolling across the globe. According to a statistics around 50% of the twitter users have faced online trolling once or more.

trolling online

Even a reputed news site like CNN wasn’t spared. A lot of derogatory and anti-social comments have been posted by online trollers on the news site with nefarious intent to harass others in the discussion or comment thread.

CNN found that the behavior of online trollers is somewhat different from other users in a sense that normal users express their opinions freely but trollers wait for some particular topics to emerge so that they could intervene and start hurling abuse to others — not in sync with the thoughts of trollers. However, CNN has now stopped giving access to trollers with strict algorithms, and all comments are now first manually checked by the admin before approval on the site.

With rise in cases of cyber bullying worldwide, even law enforcement agencies have now come forward taking stern action against anti-social elements engaging in intimidating a user with life threat or criminal intent. But it is far from satisfactory; hardly 10% of the real trollers ever get caught in their real lives.

Online Trolling is a Global Threat

A couple of years back, certain section of antisocial elements in the UK openly abuse women and LGBT. Then Stop Online Abuse campaign was launched throughout the Britain to condemn the practice of online abuse and threats.

A few years back, online trolling crossed all limits when a few abusive netizens mocked a FB memorial page of a deceased person. In another case, a feminist Anita Sarkeesian received a bomb, rape and murder threats from certain criminal-minded online users for speaking up against the “misogynistic perception” prevailing in online games.

In another case, the deputy editor (Washington) of New York Times left Twitter after he was flooded with hate tweets for taking on a controversial issue. A Pew Research Center survey indicated that 70% of trollers are in the age bracket of 18-24. Also, around 26% of women have faced online stalking in their lives.

Trolling on social media

Shockingly, political parties usually stay mum on this trolling anti-social saga. During the 45th US Presidential Elections, many online trollers openly supported Trump and thrashed Hillary Clinton and her supporters. But none of the parties took the matter seriously.

Online Trolling is Dangerous for Common People

The fulcrum of trolling mentality is to harass people. It is because of these trollers and abusers that many right-thinking and rational people have stopped using social media. Andrew Auernheimer (Weev online) is the biggest troll in the history of social media.

Andrew served more than a year in prison on the charges of conspiracy and concealing real identity, but didn’t mend his conduct even after getting released from Jail. He left the US and moved somewhere else but kept trolling online. Recently, Reddit has also banned a few discussion groups for posting obnoxious things online. Online harassment is taking a dangerous turn now.

Trolls and trolling

What we now need is a strong law to punish online trollers for harassing people and indulging in antisocial and illegal activity. If a group of people intentionally posting loathsome and hateful messages online to criminally intimidate others, then they should be dealt harshly under the hands of law.

Learning Teamwork from Ants

Learning Teamwork from Ants

Ants are the most organized and intelligent creatures. They work round the clock and most of the time they work as a team. This is the primary reason why ants get success while carrying the work load of something that is ten times heavier than their individual weight.

It is only through team work that a colony of ants could easily lift things that are way more than their collective weights together. According to a research, an efficient group-level process can arise from brief amplification of individual-based knowledge. The study also observed that when ants collectively carry a large load then it requires high level of coordination and someone within the ants acts as a leader in such a time.

In order to ensure smoother teamwork, the large degree of conformity is a necessity as it boosts the efficiency such endeavors. We can explain the same with an example of how a swarm of ants carries “a dead cockroach” from one place to another because all the ants have a collective goal and well-specified object.

Learning Teamwork from Ants

The above research also shed some light on the combined force of the ants that determine the speed of their workloads. Every individual ant tries their best to carry a load. This Ising model explains that carrying ants demonstrate a sort of social conformism allowing a single ant to optimally lead the load – just as what a leader does in reality.

Top 5 Teamwork Lessons You Learn From Ants

  • Ants Never Fear the size of their workload.
  • Teamwork is the reason behind the success of ants.
  • Ants are workaholic and work round the clock.
  • Ants are well organized. They know how to pursue their goals.
  • Ants are cautious and far-sighted. They collect their food in advance even before the actual rainy season in sight.
  • They don’t leave their work undone. Once an army of ants engage in an activity they fully complete it.

The Research Experiment

Ring-shaped food items were placed at a distance of quite a few meters from the ant’s nest. On finding that a food was placed near them ants began their cooperative transport. Soon, they surrounded the same and each ant contributes towards moving the object.

With more ants joining the experiment, the objects were moving faster. Slowly and slowly, the food items were dragged near to their nest. Eventually, researchers found that it was a full teamwork and the responsible role of each ant that help them move the object near to ant’s nest. When an individual ant felt tired a new ant joined the work replacing him – such is the level of mutual cooperation and coordination that you find within ants.

Talking about Ant’s teamwork, Prof. Nir Gov of the Weizmann Institute’s Chemical Physics Departmentremarked “In this system, the wisdom does not come from crowds. Rather, some individuals supply the ‘brains’ and the role of the group is to amplify the ‘muscle’ power of savvy individuals so they can actually move the load.”  No doubt, we have a lot to learn from ants day in and day out !

How to Handle Online Harassment – Tips and Tricks for Women

How to handle online harassment - tips and tricks for Women

When it comes to online harassment of women, social media tops the chart. Be it Asia, Europe or anywhere else, the effect of lopsided patriarchal society and mindsets is making the world more uneven than before. While talking about cyber crimes, women suffer the most. Women are stalked and thrashed on social media for reasons best known to trollers themselves quite frequently.

Posting one’s views or expressing one’s opinion on social media is one’s fundamental rights but the way women face backlash for doing so is something that we should collectively ponder over. We have to remove this “online harassment” menace from our civilised world.

#5) Never Reveal Your Real Home Address

Well, posting your home address on social media is something that should be seriously avoided at all costs. However, you can always reveal your Post Box number or office address online for communication purposes wherever necessary.

#4) Treat All Incoming Calls with Caution

Obviously, not all incoming calls are necessary. You must figure out the relevance of the call first without receiving it. Especially, you should exert more caution if you receive a call in your personal mobile number from an unknown location and caller id.

#3) Never Disclose Confidential Details

Be it your bank account number, credit or debit card, or even Social Security Number – don’t disclose these details to anyone over social media. Online harasser or Cyber criminals may harass and harm you severely by physically, monetarily and mentally once they get these details.

#2) Protect Your Systems and Devices

Periodically, we should gauge the anti-virus effectiveness of our devices. Especially, for business women, virus in the personal and office system is a strict no-no as it may lead a hacker to infect your system and get back all crucial and sensitive data stored in the system. Always use quality and full proof anti-virus software round the clock in your devices.

#1) All Followers are Not Well-Wishers

Many social media users forget that not all followers are their well-wishers. Some of them could be criminals too – stalking you with a criminal intent. Trollers on social media sites like twitter and facebook have peculiar mentality; they stalk you to post threatening like rape/murder/Threat online to intimidate you for a reason or not.

Even though many of them get caught by the law enforcement agencies, a lot of them run away using fake IP addresses. So, self-care is the best remedy in such a situation. Without waiting for the cops to react – use your social media safely. Keeping your social media accounts in a private mode is a good option to know who you approve as your followers on receiving their requests.

Women Shouldn’t Fear Online Bullying

Never let online trollers dictate terms. You don’t need to fear and shutting out all your social media accounts. By doing so, they will become stronger in their nefarious intent and then go to harass another woman.

So, you have to use your social media accounts in a cautioned way without restricting your normal followers either. If you notice any suspicious activity or absurd comment hurled at you with a negative motive, then you should immediately block that person. Repeat it wherever necessary. It is the first line of defense against Cyber-bullying that women frequently face online these days.

Last but not the least; never let online harassment shatter your confidence. Never hesitate to take the help from Police if you feel unsafe or find that a situation is getting out of hand. It is always better to be safe than sorry!

Five Tips for Responsible Use of Social Media

Top 5 Simple Tips For Responsible Use of Social Media

As per its nomenclature, “social media” is something that is intertwined with the concept of social and society. These days, social media has evolved out as the best way to meet new people, socialise and share thoughts. However, just as everything has its negative effects – similarly social media has side effects too. Many people actually use it as a tool to harass others by way of cyberbullying which is inherently antisocial, wrong, often illegal and immoral as well.

There are some basic etiquette that every social media user must either follow or don’t use social media. Social networking sites basically serve the purpose of lending helping hand to people. But often the reverse happens. It turns out to be a place where people vent out their anger and go away anonymously. However, due to massive rise cyber crime cases across the globe, police are now more active towards nabbing these cyber criminals.

Top 5 Things You Should Never Post On Social Media

Illegal Activity: Intent is everything. If your intent is to do something suspicious or you wish to indulge in illegal activity then please stay away from social media and surrender yourself before the cops by confessing your nefarious future plan. Then the court and cops will guide you further according to the merit of the case. No, social media is strictly no-no for anti-social and anti-human like you.

Get away from this platform and don’t defame it. What constitutes illegal can vary according to the country you reside in but certain social media rules are universal;

You should not share something that creates mutual hatred among people.

You can’t share a live crime scene without informing the law enforcement agencies about the same.

You can’t go on abusing people on social media for any reason whatsoever.

You shouldn’t insult any religion or try to incite people by hurting things of their faiths and beliefs.

You shouldn’t stalk a certain man or woman in an unfriendly or scary manner especially when he or she doesn’t like it.

You should never post pictures or videos about adult content on social media because several teens and adolescents are also on social media. Adult content might not be suitable for certain age-group people.

You shouldn’t promote consumption of drugs on social media irrespective of where you reside.

Influence: Social media is a big platform to influence people. But that doesn’t mean you should randomly rant things that make people feel depressed, dejected and upset. Continued reading of negative thoughts could impact mind leading to the extent of suicide or homicide in certain cases.

Maintain Courtesy: Even if you are annoyed at somebody. Don’t need to show it on social media; keep it personal. Everyone has a problem with something and somebody but that doesn’t mean you should post everything on social media without trying to resolve the same from your end.

Confidential Details: Don’t share your banking details and debit/ credit card information on social media for fun ever. It can be problematic for you and your family. Internet hackers wait for such things so that they can then use their tricks to siphon off money from your bank account without your knowledge. Always remember your bank balances are just digits on computers.

Social Checks Ins: In recent times, social check ins option are there in facebook to let people know in which theatre or restaurant you are going in. It is not right to share your social check ins especially when you are alone or far away from your home location. You don’t know who among your followers and fans might be predators in the disguise of a social media user waiting to harm you.

Use social media responsible. Be safe and raise awareness of the people too about this sensitive matter by sharing this article now.

Six Strategies for Indian Retailers to enhance their Profitability

The Indian retail sector has seen a high growth over the past decade with an emerging trend towards organized retail formats. The organized retail sector has today reached a share of 8-10% from an initial penetration of 2-3% a decade ago. There are multiple factors that have pushed the growth of Indian retail sector such as strong and robust economic growth, increased retail spending, growth in product categories that are retailed and emergence of innovative distribution channels such as smartphones. In such a powerful growth environment, it becomes critical for players to understand best strategies for higher profitability in Indian retail industry:

rv11

Figure 1Six Strategies for Indian Retailers to enhance their Profitability

  1. Customers are king

The first critical step towards enhanced profitability in retail begins with addressing the needs of consumers. Since consumers vary by region, state and street, it becomes critical to understand local market dynamics and accordingly arrange product assortments in an online or offline store, so that their diverse needs are met. It may be a good idea to hire a chief consumer officer whose job is to continuously understand and address the needs of customers.

  1. Unique value proposition

In a highly competitive market segment, it makes sense to position your brand with a differentiated value offering. Retailers that design a unique value proposition which sets them apart from the competition multiply their chances of survival in the fierce competition. In order to develop a consumer centric value proposition, it is logical to analyse customer feedback about your brand, and then devise strategies to serve them better. Innovative ideas should form the basis of your value proposition strategies.

  1. Customer experience matters

Retailers need to merge online shopping experiences with offline in store experiences so that each customer touch point is attractive. Some of the key strategies for a seamless customer shopping experience include effective inventory management, an integrated sales and operations planning process, multi-modal transportation networks, and training of staff for various management activities.

  1. Let data decide for you

Retailers need to harness the power of data analytics to take critical business decisions. Digital analytics provide useful insights to retailers for marketing, supply chain management and customer experience. Knowing who your customers are, what they need, and how the entire retail chain works makes you a smarter player. Remember, analytics is not a one-time feature. It needs to be continuously explored for customer preferences that keep changing with time.

  1. Invest in technology

An intelligent retailer understands that the only way to stay ahead of the competition is to keep investing in new technology. It is good to take bold risks, but one should always have a back-up plan ready for an unforeseen failure. It is understood that technology has a small shelf life, but continuous contact with customers is expected to me more effective than blanket marketing.

  1. Protect your reputation

When you run a business in a digitally charged environment, you are also exposed to potential risks of such technology. Be it social media or potential website hacks, you need to be vigilant about your digital assets.

These powerful strategies can definitely change the game for your company in a highly competitive retail sector in India.

Elon Musk Is Set to Merge Human Brains with AI in Neuralink Project

Elon Musk Is Set to Merge Human Brains with AI in Neuralink Project

Hold your breath and believe the impossible. Business baron Elon Musk launched Neuralink his latest venture that aims to merge the human brain with Artificial Intelligence (AI). It is certain now that the exploration of the possibility of merging computers with human brain like a brain-computer interface has already begun.

The company will pursue “neural lace” scientific innovation process that implants tiniest electrodes in human brains so that uploading and downloading of human thoughts could be easily done!

No, it is not a science fiction. The detailed report of the same was published a few days back confirming it. If Neuralink project becomes successful then it is expected to improve the memory and concentration level of the people using it through Artificial Intelligence.

Neuralink Is Thinking Ahead of Its TIme

Currently, Elon Musk is also spearheading some other ambitious scientific projects like SpaceX and Tesla. A few days back, he stated “Over time I think we will probably see a closer merger of biological intelligence and digital intelligence. It’s mostly about the bandwidth, the speed of the connection between your brain and the digital version of yourself, particularly output,” when a journalist asked Elon Musk about the Neuralink project.

Electrode arrays are already used to treat neurological disorder and imbalances like Parkinson’s, Alzheimer and epilepsy among other diseases affecting the working of human brains in one way or other. Neuralink has now joined hands with the Kernel, a renowned biotechnology firm to give a massive impetus to their research.

Kernel has been at the front foot of medical research on human brains with new surgery techniques and innovations for the last few years together. “We know if we put a chip in the brain and release electrical signals, that we can ameliorate symptoms of Parkinson’s,” the Kernel official stated last year. “This has been done for spinal cord pain, obesity, anorexia… what hasn’t been done is the reading and writing of neural code, he added further while also confirming the news that Neauralink and Kernel are working together on this research.

So Close Yet So Far…..

  • Researchers have to find a safer way to implant electrodes inside human brains.
  • Electrodes must keep the person’s mental balance stable.
  • Not possible for any science to find out what does each neuron thinking at a particular point of time. It is impossible to decide if the neurons in the brain are asking a person to read or play!
  • Inserting any alien things inside human brains is risky. It is not like a heart where pacemaker can be inserted if required.
  • A normal person would avoid getting his skull opened, only the adventurous mind people and his family members will give their nod to undergo this type of operation where a chip will be inserted to connect AI to human brain.

Some neuro scientists claim that still very limited research has been done until now to understand how the neurons work inside human brains for communication purposes. So, Neuralink will be a difficult aim to accomplish.

Neuralink, the California-based neuroscience Company, is still in its nascent stage but making a rapid advancement in medical science. The Company is now all set to develop cranial systems to treat serious brain diseases while also working a way to attach AI to a human brain. If Neuralink receives government approval then it could be a path breaking leap into the advanced neurological science.
