Someone May Be Dying On A New Year’s Eve – Should We Still Celebrate?

The most tragic thing associated with human beings is the unpredictable nature of death. Every human being is a born mortal but what varies is their time of leaving the earth. Coming to New Year’s celebration, nobody wants to miss it out.

We welcome the dawn of 1st January every year in a crazy and frenzied manner. In fact, by way of celebration we express our uttermost joy to thank god for making us alive to witness the day. But at the same time someone may be dying! Will you still celebrate New Year’s Eve and Day?

There is no definite answer to it. It all depends upon your individuality and ability to see other people’s pain. Agreed, someone might be dying or lying on the bed as a terminally ill patient, but should we also join the chorus of loud cries and wallows – forgetting all essence of optimism and positivity surrounding us?

We have two choices before us; either considering our life full of suffering, subtracting all happiness, or we should celebrate the magic of life as it comes. As responsible citizens we should aim to maintain perfect balance. Celebration must go on just like human life continuous even after any tragedy or holocaust.

Essence of compassion must be within all of us. During New Year’s Eve and parties we must realize the reality that happy moment we are sharing with our family and loved ones is the priceless possession every person wishes to. Human life is short and nobody can predict which day is going to be his or her last, so our focus should be to live life to the fullest.

We can avoid rash driving and firecrackers on New Year’s Eve as a mission to not to trouble others while celebrating the occasion. In order to live a happy and jovial life, we have to subtract the feeling of sadness and uncertainty of life. Even though by thinking more about future –we can only make our present worse.

The ideal way to proceed is to celebrate Happy New Year positively with a resolution not to hurt the feelings of the other. If someone in your neighbor or at the other part of the world is breathing his last on New Year’s Eve, then at least pray for their well-being before you begin the celebration. What else can we do? We are not super humans; all of us will reach to same destination one day – death.

You must calm your mind and meditate for a few minutes on New Year’s Eve before starting the celebration. It will open your inner eyes and help you realize the pains of people around you. It will make you a generous and compassionate soul.

Always consider every person as someone who is attached to you philosophically even if you don’t know each other and there is a long geographical distance between both of you.
